Modern Rite Adornments, founded in 2022 as Melissa Reay Piercing & Jewelry, is a boutique body piercing studio located in the heart of Sooke, BC. We specialize in professional body piercing with a strong focus on client care, education, and safety. Every piercing is performed using only the highest quality jewelry from reputable makers such as Alchemy Adornment, Canasteel Jewelry, and Junipurr Jewelry. We're proud of how far we’ve come and honoured to serve our community with intention and integrity.

  • At the heart of Modern Rite is Melissa Reay—owner, head piercer, and creative force. Piercing since 2016, Melissa is a member of the Association of Professional Piercers and an alumni of the Fakir Musafar Body Piercing Intensives in San Francisco. Beyond her credentials, Melissa is a grounded, sober woman and devoted mother of two who values authentic connection. Her work is an extension of her care for people, her commitment to safe and empowering piercings, and her love of personal transformation. When she’s not piercing, Melissa enjoys traveling, exploring different art forms, and building community around her.
